Fees

What are the fees to recover data?

What are the fees to recover data? We publish transparent, per-device pricing for many common data-recovery services, including hard drives, SSDs, USB flash drives, memory cards, and mobile phones. Standard, Expedited, and Rush service options may be available. The applicable fee depends on factors such as: * The type and capacity of the storage device * The physical or logical condition of the media * The complexity of the failure * Whether another recovery attempt was previously performed * The selected service timeframe * The equipment, parts, and engineering procedures required After completing a comprehensive evaluation, we will confirm the recovery fee and provide a written proposal for your approval before beginning the recovery. Flexible payment options Qualified customers may be able to divide the cost of the recovery using Klarna or Affirm. The financing options presented to you will depend on the recovery amount, your eligibility, and the plans available at the time of application. **Affirm** Affirm may offer: * Four interest-free payments through Affirm Pay in 4 * Longer monthly payment plans * Annual percentage rates ranging from 0% to 36%, depending on eligibility and the selected plan Affirm Pay in 4 is currently offered at 0% APR. A down payment may be required, and not every option is available for every transaction or customer. **Klarna** Klarna may offer: * Four interest-free payments, generally collected every two weeks * Monthly financing over 3 to 24 months * Annual percentage rates ranging from 0% to 35.99%, depending on eligibility, creditworthiness, and the selected term A higher initial payment or minimum purchase amount may apply. Your available payment plans, payment amounts, interest rate, total repayment amount, and required disclosures will be displayed by Klarna or Affirm before you accept a financing agreement. Financing approval and terms are determined by the financing provider, not by WeRecoverData. What happens if the recovery is unsuccessful? If we are unable to recover the data covered by the approved recovery objective, there is generally no recovery charge. Separately disclosed diagnostic, evaluation, emergency, shipping, parts, or other service fees may still apply when identified in advance. Previous recovery attempts can complicate the recovery process or cause additional damage. We therefore recommend having the device evaluated by qualified data-recovery professionals before it is opened, repaired, repeatedly powered on, or subjected to recovery attempts. Our Ability

I’ve been told that my data cannot be recovered. Is there still hope?

Yes. WeRecoverData has successfully recovered data from devices that other established data-recovery providers had previously examined or declared unrecoverable. Every case is different, and a prior unsuccessful attempt does not necessarily mean that the data is permanently lost. Our engineers use advanced equipment, proprietary procedures, and case-specific recovery methods to address complex failures. When necessary, we may develop a customized recovery approach for the particular device or failure. Recovery cannot be guaranteed until the media has been professionally evaluated. Previous recovery attempts may also affect the condition of the device and the available recovery options. Before accepting that your data is unrecoverable, contact us for an independent evaluation. My hard drive is making clicking noises. Can the data still be recovered?

Yes, recovery may still be possible. Repeated or unusual clicking often indicates a mechanical failure inside the hard drive. Immediately power off the device and do not reconnect it, run recovery software, repeatedly test it, open it, tap it, or place it in a freezer. Continued operation can cause additional damage and reduce the amount of data that may be recoverable. The drive should be professionally evaluated in a properly equipped data-recovery laboratory. Recovery will depend on the cause and extent of the damage, so results cannot be determined until the drive has been examined. WeRecoverData has successfully recovered data from many clicking and mechanically damaged hard drives.

Is it possible to recover data from a hard drive that was accidentally formatted?

Yes, data can often be recovered after a hard drive has been accidentally formatted or repartitioned, provided the original data has not been overwritten. Stop using the drive immediately. Do not save new files, reinstall the operating system, reformat it again, or run repair or recovery software, as these actions may overwrite recoverable data. The likelihood of recovery depends on the type of format performed, the file system, whether new data was written afterward, and whether the device is a traditional hard drive or an SSD. SSDs may be more difficult because features such as TRIM can permanently remove data after formatting. A professional evaluation is required to determine what remains recoverable.

Can you recover a file that was deleted accidentally?

In many cases we can. We would need to know one of the following: the type of file, the name of the file and when you accidentally deleted it.

My external hard drive is asking to be initialized or formatted. I need some of the files on it. Should I use some utility to try and fix this myself?

If the data is critical, we don't suggest running any utilities on it. We'd rather have you bring the drive in for a professional data recovery engineer to examine it. Be aware – utilities are never guaranteed, and can often cause more harm than good.

My computer was in a fire, have I lost my data?

Not necessarily. We have recovered data from fire or flood damaged media in the past.

Our RAID failed, we re-striped/re-initialized the RAID array, formatted the array and copied data back to it. Is there a chance of recovering the data before the re-striping/re-initialization?

We can possibly recover the data in these cases. It will depend on the RAID controller's functionality and how much data was copied to the array. We have done this before. See more: RAID Data Recovery

What is your success rate?

Proven Success in Challenging Data-Recovery Cases WeRecoverData has successfully recovered data in cases where other established data-recovery providers—including companies describing themselves as industry or world leaders were previously unable to recover the client’s data. We maintain documented examples of these cases. Subject to client confidentiality and the availability of appropriate supporting records, prospective clients may contact us to request additional information. We do not advertise a single company-wide success-rate percentage because recovery outcomes depend on many case-specific factors, including the type of device, the nature and extent of the damage, previous recovery attempts, encryption, media degradation, and the client’s defined recovery objectives. Presenting one generalized percentage without explaining those variables could create a misleading impression. Our engineers approach every case with a straightforward objective: when meaningful user data remains technically recoverable, we will use our available expertise, technology, and recovery procedures to pursue the best achievable result. We are frequently trusted with difficult cases, including devices that have already been examined or declared unrecoverable by other providers. Before accepting that your data is unrecoverable, give our engineers the opportunity to examine it. We have recovered many cases after others could not.

Process

After your diagnosis of my hard drive's recoverability, can I decide not to pursue the recovery?

Yes, if the cost is too high you can decide not to pursue the recovery. Please contact us to discuss the flexible payment options we offer.

What is the next step? How do I start a recovery case?

Please visit the case submission page and follow the instructions there. For any assistance, please call us.

Time

What is the turnaround time for the recovery process?

Usually the evaluation is done within 8-24 hours and most of the recoveries are done within a day or two. We do offer an expedited and a 24/7 emergency evaluation and recovery options - please contact us regarding these options. See more here: Emergency Data Recovery Service.
